AS A MASSAGE THERAPIST, I know that caring human touch can significantly reduce pain and improve adaptability to the rapid changes of pregnancy. I know that massage can ease the perceived intensity of labor, and facilitate postpartum recovery. I entered the massage field because I have natural talent for healing touch and finding where a body hurts. I have over 800 hours of formal and continuing education and the skills I have learned have turned a God-given gift into a powerful tool for comfort and relief.
AS A DOULA, my job is to support and educate every woman under my care to the best of my ability, whether a woman chooses a homebirth or a scheduled Cesarean. I believe the female body is perfectly and divinely designed for the trials of labor and childbirth with very few exceptions. I believe that supported, natural childbirth with minimal interventions is typically the healthiest mode of welcoming a child into the world. I believe a woman has the right to make an informed decision about the best birth choice for her and her child, and to be supported when her decision is made. I know that labor and delivery support increases a woman's likelihood of feeling positive about her birth experience, whatever it is. I became a doula because I love birth, I love babies, I love women, and I believe in everyday miracles.
I believe in touch.
I believe in birth.
I believe in women.
